Mom had shoulder replacement surgery on Tuesday, the same day as Robin's knee replacement. Mom came home in just a couple of days and is laying low at home. She is not able to do much so those of us around here are taking turns helping out. Being right-handed, it helps that it was the left shoulder.
She has a few exercises to start doing which are obviously painful but it is just the start of a long road of therapy. She had some problems with the pain medicine upsetting her stomach and also has had very little appetite so has to almost force herself to eat. (I can't relate.)
The surgeon said that he did not see any surprises and considered the procedure to be successful. Mom could use some visits to keep her mind off of it if anyone can do that, so soon after the gathering. All in all, her condition is what would be considered "normal" for the procedure and her age doesn't seem to be much of a negative factor.
On another subject, my dog Bella slipped a disk in her back on Thursday. She has to rest and not go for walks or romp with Casey. Bella is doing better with medicine. She is staying with mom, so I suppose they can compare levels of pain.

Glad to hear Iris is coming along OK. If anyone can rehab that shoulder, it's her! Hang in there!
