I've realized that as the Walker cousins reach new stages in life, there is a bigger need for more frequent communication. What I have decided to do, is try to offer a solution. I've come up with a way for us to have an online bulletin board. This will be a good way for you to either share family information, or to learn something about the concerns of the family. Previously, our family updates have been made by phone and email, but occasionally someone accidentally gets left out of the loop.

Busy Summer
It was great to see so many of us at Tom and Robin's. I am also glad that Robin's and Iris's surgeries went well. I was in Chicago while the surgeries were going on. I got back last Thursday. I learned a lot at the educators' conference and enjoyed revisiting the Willis (Sears) Tower and going to the Navy Pier for the first time. I got to go out on the new glass edge at Willis Tower. It was pretty cool. I wasn't scared at all, but two of my teacher friends were. I got to ride in the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier. It was beautiful at night. The Chicago skyline is awesome. There was a full moon over the water and very little wind so the water was very calm. What a gorgeous night. The day we went to Willis Tower was overcast and rainy, but it cleared up very nicely in the evening. We could see for about 35-40 miles according to one of the guides.
This week cousin, Greg Breese, tore off my old roof and put on a new one. He and his helpers started on Monday and finished up today. It looks really nice.
We also received news today that my mom's surgery is scheduled for Monday, August 3, 11 AM. She will be getting her gallbladder out. In the meantime, Mom, Michelle and I will be taking a trip to Nashville (to visit with Chris Walker), then to Gatlinburg, then to Birmingham AL where Danielle's boyfriend, Chris, lives. Danielle is already down in Birmingham where she is working as a camp counselor this week. She may meet us in Nashville or Gatlinburg.
Here are some pictures of Chicago and the new roof.

Chicago sounded like a lot of fun. Where has the summer gone? Have fun you all in Alabama.
You look like you are in a glass jail ready to panic. Does this prepare you to go to Grand Canyon to visit the sky view of the canyon from a glass platform?
Yeah I think I could do The Grand Canyon now.
