Update from Elk Grove, California

Just a note to let you know what Bill and I are up to.

We fly to Tom and Robin’s on Thursday with my sister Beverly and her husband. We will all go to Nashville on Friday/Saturday to visit Howard and Chris.

Beverly’s daughter, Sharon, is graduating from University of Virginia Law School. We all plan to attend her graduation in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our sister, Marleen, will join us for the graduation. We are proud of Sharon’s accomplishments. Sharon has accepted a position with a law firm in Portland, Oregon and will be moving there following graduation.

When Bill and I return to California, we will be getting ready for the wedding of Marleen’s daughter, Rhonda to Glenn Burnett on June 21 here in Elk Grove. We are happy for them. It will be nice having them live close to us.

We (my sister Beverly and our daughters) recently gave Rhonda a bridal shower. We surprised Rhonda with a recipe box and our favorite recipes. If you have a recipe you would like to share with her, send it to me and I will be happy to see that she gets it. Marleen’s recipe for Rhonda was our Grandma Walker’s Cottage Pudding. We had Cottage Pudding a lot when we were growing up as many of you probably did as well. I gave Rhonda a recipe for pot roast that I received when I got married.

I guess I’m not busy enough because on June 2, I will return to work for the State of California as a retired annuitant. I told them I would only work 7 hours a day and 3 days a week and they said ok. I just can’t bring myself to go to work 8 hours a day now that I’m retired. This will keep me out of trouble and help with the budget.

I wish we lived closer so we could see everyone more often. Bill and I will not be able to make it to either of the reunions this year and will miss seeing all of you.

Please pass onto Sharon our congratulations on graduation from UVA, and welcome into the working world. I am certain Paul and Diane will make sure everyone is taken care of while in town.

Thanks so much for your special visit to us. It was wonderful. Our love and congratulations to Sharon! We remember the special evening with Tom and Sharon early on as Sharon was making choices.
We are proud of you! Portland has some of the mose beautiful and vividly colored flowers in the whole world. The frequent rain makes them special.
