Don Walker Update 5/31

Dad is doing better, and will be coming home from the hospital this afternoon. We will be setting up a hospital bed in the living room of their home. The home health care team will come tomorrow to talk about options for therapy and other help for mom and dad.

Dad's speech has degraded somewhat, and he has lost a little more use of his arms. He is still mentally sharp. In fact, yesterday he moved from the ICU to a regular floor, and the nurses on the new floor told him he was the healthiest sick person they have had in a while.

Mom is doing pretty well, considering. She is sleeping well and adjusting to the changes. Please hold off visiting very much for a few days until they get settled in a new routine. Dad gets tired and doesn't converse a lot, so mom feels like she has to "entertain" visitors. Definitely call before you come by.
