Ben Walker's situation

Things have been pretty hectic around here this past week. This past saturday night Ben had gone to a party and as he was getting ready to leave things got bad. The exact details are very hard to discern and make sense of. This much is sure from the people that were there. He did nothing to provoke the vicious attack that followed. He was attacked by 4 other kids while he was in his car. They vandalized his car and continually punched him in the face. At some point they got him out of the car and had him on the ground. They took his money from his wallet and through his wallet back in the car. It was only $26 and not the motive of the attack. he knows exactly who these kids are and we will be pressing charges. They vandalized his car and actually broke his jaw. We did not know that until much later after I got there after he got away from where it happened. I took him on Monday to have is jaw wired shut so that it can heal. It will remain that way for 6 weeks. He actually had the oral surgeon look at it today and ordered him to start learning how to talk and practice talking in this condition. For those of you who do not know him, he is a Walker through and through. He is very shy without any strong opinions about anything who never opens his mouth about anything. Yeah right!! Just like every other Walker in the family huh!! Not!!! One of our friends who has a foster child in Mom's daycare had to go see him and point out that this was the first time she had ever seen him with his mouth shut. It was all in good fun, he is quite well known in our part of town and more. He is well liked and well respected by everyone who knows him. The concept of having doctor's orders to talk is really quite funny. He is ok and the doc says his jaw is healing back quite well and we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. He's a smart and tough guy who is handling everything quite well actually. He was going to a movie with a friend tonight who just happens to be a female aroud his age. He will not be able to deploy now and he is quite disappointed at that. He really wanted to go and for all the right reasons. He wears his uniform proudly. It's one of those things that his jaw is broke, the rest of his body is fine. There are many ramifications to that in that he can't eat anything that is not liquid and can fit between his teeth. Anyone that might want to contact him or send him a card or something can send it directly to him. He is living with my Mom currently. She would be glad to hear from anyone that might wish to contact her as well. Cards could be addressed to either Ben Walker or Joyce Walker and the address is:
7400 Old Charlotte Pike
Nashville, TN 37209

Mom doesn't check her email address very often and isn't exactly computer savy but she is doing well and continues to run a daycare out of her home.
