Thank You From California

A big thank you to all from California for your prayers and support for me and my family these past few weeks. It has been a rough time, but we have felt your love across the miles and that love has helped us through my mom's failing health and her passing. We do, indeed, have a wonderful and caring extended family. Now that everyone has gone back home (Tom and Robin spent last night in Las Vegas), it is time to savor the precious memories and look to the future.

Since I'm new to contributing here, I should let you know what I'm up to. Some of you I've seen the past two years at Tom and Robin's house for the campout and some I haven't seen for many years. I retired from the State of California about 4 years ago and will return in a couple weeks as a part time retired annuitant. My husband, Bill, and I keep busy putting in and maintaining a yard. We moved into our duplex house a year and a half ago. It is on a 320 acre farm south of Sacramento that has been in Bill's family for 5 generations (since around 1860). Bill and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary on August 30. Cousin Howard and my dad, Robert, performed our wedding ceremony and it doesn't seem like it can possibly be 40 years.

Bill and I will unfortunately not make it to the campout this year. I hope to see lots of pictures posted so we can have a sense of being there with everyone.

Hi Carol,
My deapest sympathies to you and your family. I will miss you at the reunion this year. I just hope I get to go. Right now, Dad's surgery is scheduled for that Wednesday before, so I am not sure what is in store for me. We are packing right now to spend the weekend in San Antonio. Our time in Texas has flown by. We are having great time. We fly back home on Wednesday. Y'all keep in touch.

Carol:
Thanks for your blog entry. Hope you will do it often. Thanks too for your response to my note to your family. You are all very dear to me because so many of my memories of California include members of your family. The funeral does not bring to an end our interest and prayers. Stay with us often on the blog. We will all want to hear from you and your families.

We are planning to go to Tom's in a few weeks and are excited to see everyone. We will certainly miss you and Bill and will take pics to share so you can be with us in spirit. Also you have our sympathy with your mother's passing.
