We are in Denmark. We arrived safe and sound on Saturday. This is a picture of our car in front of a church in the countryside. We have a Peugeot 508 diesel 5 speed. It is a beautiful car, large and very comfortable. All of the luggage for 4 of us fit into the trunk.
Marleen & Bob arrived on time, but very tired. Their flight from SFO to Frankfort was cancelled and they had to reroute through Chicago. They didn't sleep for 2 days. They are off to Copenhagen today to shop and see Tivoli. On Wed. we will take the ferry to Sweden for the day. Our condo is right on the North Sea. The weather so far is perfect!
Coke is about $5 for a 1.5L bottle. Things are very expensive. Yesterday we had canned onion soup. We can't read the cans very well and sometimes we have to guess. We are off to the grocery today to buy food for tonight. What shall we get? The stores are so small and not much selection. And did I mention the prices??? Ouch! Let alone restaurants! But we are having a good time and enjoy exploring new places and things.
We love driving in the countryside. It is not crowded and the traffic is light. We have waves on the North Sea today.
In the last month, Marleen has been to Sydney, China, Hawaii (twice) and now to Germany and Denmark. I think her clock must be really messed up.

My favorite Italian restaurant is in Copenhagen! That says a lot considering I've spent 9 weeks in Italy...

At the end of your meal, you pick a number for a chance to win your meal for free. Its family style if you go all 3 courses, otherwise the main courses are always amazing. My first trip, I ate there twice.
The area is nice as its by the queen's castle. Be careful of the guards - they're armed and at the ready.
That is why I call it surprise soup. Sometimes you cannot be sure. In this case we figured it out after we got home but before we opened it. Most soups (suppe) are not meat soups. Some things we can read because the word is similar. But some we do a duh after we figure out how similar the word is.
How expensive is the Italian place Ryan? The place Marleen & Bob stopped into for lunch cost the 2 of them $60 for a sandwich and a drink. I paid half price for nearly out of date eggs. They cost me about $3 for 10 eggs.
Today we are off to see Hans Christain Anderson stuff near Odensa, Denmark. It is very windy this morning and we have heavy waves on the North Sea.
I don't really remember...when I'm in Denmark I have an expense account, so I get to cheat a bit :)

General tax against employees is 60% - but all services are socialized. What's funny is you can still buy private health insurance on top of that. My understanding is that most people do as the general services aren't that good. Taxes on cars is outrageous too - a Ford Focus will run you $85-90,000 where here it is around $15-20,000.
