I leave over Labor Day Weekend for points west and will be gone for 7 weeks. I start out with John and Pat who will be with me for the first 3 weeks or so. Then I fly from Denver to NM and continue my journey with Robin in our Mountaineer.
Over the course of 7 weeks, there will be interactions with 18 cousins in 12 states. Highlights of the trip include full weeks in the following areas: Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Santa Fe, Colorado, the Black Hills of South Dakota and NW Iowa.
I expect to visit around 12 National Parks and Monuments along the way. I turned 62 earlier this year, so now have my own Park Pass.
I will try to leave updates along the way to let folks know how things are going. Just watch under comments.
OK, Craig, does this heat things up enough? Isn't retirement wonderful??? SEE THE USA IN YOUR CHEVROLET. Well, John's Chevy anyway.

This spices it up a bit. Can we expect a daily posting on "Travels with Johnny?"
Perhaps I could try to outdo Steinbeck and write a book called "Travels with Johnny". What do you think? Wait, wait, he might try to write one called "Travels with Tommy". Then I'd be up a creek! Besides, it is his car! Perhaps I should rethink this.
Since we have both traveled a lot together, the book would be way too long and readership would be limited, along with sales.
I expect to take a lot of pictures, perhaps making a CD would be better.
The title of the CD could be "When Johnny travels and Tommy is tour guide".
That is a great title, John!! I love it!! What will we do for music for the video we make?
Tom and Johnny's excellent adventure? Or Tommy John's pitch for family travel? How about "grumpy old men?"
Whatever it is, I hope you'll keep us all up to date on your adventures.
We are in Moab, Utah tonight. We toured Arches NP tonight. I have upped the estimate of cousins to see from 18 to 22. And we picked up another state: Kentucky. The Chevy is running great!
I know that you must have at least one computer and one camera. How about some pix?
We have two computers and two cameras. Can't decide which picture to put on out of the more than 200 pictures I have taken so far. But I will pick a couple that you might like.
