These pictures are really special to me. When Robin & I were planning our wedding in Iowa City, I anticipated very few people on "my" side of the church. None of my sisters were able to come and the closest other family I had was in Indiana. At the time, gas had gotten expensive and there were long lines at stations. We invited Paul to be our organist and along came this large entourage of my aunts and uncles. Needless to say I was thrilled!
There were 13 children of Raleigh & Idessia Walker. In 1973, there were 10 living and half of those were there in Iowa City that day. The history of this close knit family goes back a long ways. I can remember reunions at the homes of Doris, Mary and Don, all of whom are in these pictures. Sometime in the 1970s, Doris and Mary took us to a fish fry at Colbush Church. Oh, and a pride and joy of mine were the hand embroidered pillowcases from Donnabelle.
As for my sisters, Carol was ready to be a mommy. She put my parents on an airplane for Iowa, told them she would be fine and then headed straight for the hospital. None of us were very well off in those days and getting around was expensive.
The lower picture was taken in front of Gloria Dei Lutheren Church and the top picture was taken in front of my apartment.

Tom, I love seeing these pictures. Can't wait for the girls to see them. I am sure there are some in there they do not know or ever met.......Makenzie was just a baby when Den's Mom died. I am sure when I test them they will not know some of them even those that are still here. They will probably not even reconize that wedding couple.......Doris
Doris, we haven't changed a bit!! OK, well, maybe my hair has a little more gray now.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, we were not the only cousins getting married in 1973.

Craig and I must have been in school but I don't remember who we stayed with.
Denny and Suzanne Cox were married in 1973 about a month before Tom and Robin. We were able to go to their wedding. They are now celebrating their anniversary in Florida with family and friends.
Sorry we were not able to go to Tom and Robins wedding.
