Rickert Family

Hi Dale,

Since I'm not connected to the Blog, I'm sending this to you. I'msending you an update on my son Kevin.

On April 13th for those of youwho don't know Kevin was diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome. It is aviral infection which attacks the nerves and then affects the muscles. He became paralyzed from his neck down. He was on a ventilator and had afeeding tube because his throat muscles were paralyzed. The good news isa patient usually fully recovers. On Mother's Day he called me and wasable to speak through his trach and said, "I Love You." That was thebest Mother's Day gift I've ever had. He no longer has the trach or thestomach tube and has regained most of his upper body strength. He is nowhome and just goes for physical therapy once a week. His work, DiscountTire, bought him a weight machine so he does his exercises every day athome. July 16th he took his first steps using a walker. He now uses thewalker in the house. We are so thankful for the progress Kevin has made. He and Rachel now have Adam at home with them. They went to Kazakhstanin January and the adoption was final the end of March. They had onlybeen home a short time when Kevin got ill. Rachel's parents have hadAdam ever since. They are happy to have Adam back with them and beginliving a somewhat normal life again.

Bob Rickert has completed his test and they showed he had a slightstroke. His heart is healthy and his blood pressure very good. The onlything they found was his cholesterol was high. Now he is on medicationfor that and is back to living a normal life.

Thanks for sharing with us. No other way without the blog could we get so much information at such low cost and in such an easy way.

We will remember all of you in our prayers. For me, it is another reminder that as bad as I have it, someone else may have it worse. Very difficult sometimes, but for me it is move ahead with each day's strength. We'll be remembering your entire family.
