Bison up close and in Person
We are in Montana, 3 cousins with their spouses. I realized that after Bobbie introduced us to a stranger today. We are in a condo near Glacier National Park. The Going to the Sun Highway is closed, but that hasn't stopped us from having a good time. It hit me today: 3 of us is over 10% of all the living first cousins. Bob Drake, Tommy and Carol.
At Sharon's suggestion we are going to stay at the lodge at Many Glacier on Saturday night where Robin & I will celebrate our 34th anniversary a day early. Next week we will be at a condo near Yellowstone. Hopefully they will not shut down Old Faithful. Thank you for the advice Sharon.
Last week Carol, Tommy, Beverly and spouses meet at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We are really into this retirement thing! Beverly is headed east with her trailer and will be visiting with Sharon Rye and Paul in Charlottesville. She will also go to the Outer Banks and Williamsburg.
Bison near Grand Teton
Yes, we got close enough to pet the buffalo. But nobody would let me! So I settled for a picture. We have not seen a bear or moose yet, but we have seen a coyote up close. Oh, and did I mention the huckleberries?
Wish you were here! Out where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play.

We just checked in to our condo at Big Sky, Mt. We are near the west entrance to Yellowstone NP at 7500 ft. It is SNOWING HARD as we watch out over the lake from the condo. We are concerned we may not get out until spring. Bob grumbled something about THE SHINING. The rest of us are getting concerned.
On the other hand it is beautiful here and we have cell service.
OK, well we had a wonderful dinner and we are surviving the snow. This place is civilized since we have cell service and internet access. I fixed buffalo chile for supper. I used a recipe from a friend in New Mexico so it must be authenic except for the buffalo. It uses kidney beans and tomatoes.
We will send out an SOS if necessary.
Did you say SNOW!,,,,I am rolling on the floor thinking of Bob Drake and snow in the same sentence.....Glad to know where my brother-in-law is however, so I know he is somewhere that he can't get me in trouble.......Always having to keep a good eye on him. It has be in the high 80's and 90's here Bob. See ya........make a snowman bob and send me a picture...Still rolling on the floor......Oops what it that?....Oh that is Denny rolling on the floor laughing and snickering at his brother......Love ya all
The scenery is fantastic and it sounds as if everyone is enjoying the snow. I want to see some smiling faces that really proves that you are there. I mean with all the fish stories going around and such. I probably have thousands of photos here in books and boxes from both sides of my family. Take it from me when it's time for you to take a trip down memory lane it's a nicer trip if you can see who went went with you on that vacation. That being said I would like to see a photo of Bob on a buffalo throwing a snowball at Tom.
I agree with Dale about the pictures. They could have googled those buffalo pictures and put them in. Perhaps they are basking on a beach somewhere and only telling "snow stories"!
Sounds like you've called their bluff, Sharon. Are we bloggers back home the ones being "snowed"?
