Uncle Ed's boat dock

Several years ago, Uncle Ed called me up and asked if I would help put the roof on his boat dock. I agreed and on a sunny weekend afternoon I drove up to his house, we had lunch and then the fun began. Me, Greg, Brian and Mike Evans were assigned the job of putting this roof on this boat dock. We looked at the situation and it didn't seem to be too big a deal at the time. Hours later the truth is told. Greg and Brian and I were in a row boat. I was standing on the front seat and the seam for the bow of the boat, Greg was standing on the back seat and the rear edge of the boat. Brian was standing on the center brace and side of the boat. Needless to say this boat was extremely top heavy by the time all 3 of us were standing up and trying to hold onto the dock. The boat was continuously shifting from waves and passing boats and just from our weight. We were using power tools to install this roof and every time you pushed with a drill or something the boat would shift in the opposite direction. Newton was right. Anyway as all 3 of us would push, the boat would move, jerk or just float away and one of us would be left hanging onto the boat dock for dear life in hope that the boat would come back your way to stand on again before you hit the water. After a while it was like watching a 3 Stooges routine and the 3 of us just began to laugh the whole time we were out there. Mike Evans was the smart one and stood on shore and just watched the show. We finally got the roof installed but not without a great deal of team work. It was one of those times that should have been sent into Funniest Home Videos. It was an afternoon with the cousins, I will never forget.
