More Cousins Needed

It's hard to believe that this blog is just a couple days past the 2 month mark. I have to tell you I am thrilled at the way it has been accepted and used. Can you even believe that the hit counter is in the 3000 range in just over one month. WOW!

I know that there must be more Walker cousins out there that have either not signed up for the blog or maybe even don't know about it. If you have addresses for these missing cousins would you please invite them to join. You may also e-mail me their address and I will use my powers of persuasion (like I have any power to do anything). This is not just for the first cousins but second cousins and everybody in between. I've been to reunions and I know there more out there.

This one is for you Steve. I thought that I would follow your lead and post a picture that everyone will enjoy. The way I see it is just like the little girls in grade school chasing the boys that they liked. Your parents have always been special to me.

Well, don't get too excited about the count Dale. Some of us check the blog multi times a day which runs the count up. Of course that does mean we are excited to see what is new. That is for us retired folks.

I wish there was a place to go called "new since last check-in". That way we could find new comments that are added to older posts.

Tom,
I know that the count is like you say, people checking the site several times a day. That means success if you check here first to see what's happening. I know I check a few times a day. Some have even made it their browser start page.

I am frustrated also by not knowing when a new comment has been added. This is my first blog and I don't know all the options, but I'm working on that. There is one thing that might help but would change the look somewhat.

I can turn off the comments. That would force all comments to be posts and those can automatically be sent e-mail anytime a new post shows up. I think it would tend to disrupt the thought train a bit. What's you opinion? Let's see how long it takes you to find this.

Well, it looks like under 2 hours. I would leave the comments as they are to maintain the thread given the choices you suggested. I always go back a page or so looking for new comments. The problem with that is you have to remember how many comments were there before for a post. When you get older you forget something but I never remember what it is.

Us middle age folks also have trouble remembering! I too keep going back to see if there are new comments, but can't remember how many were there before, so end up re-reading everything. This is my first blog, so don't know what it's capabilities are. A spell checker would be nice!

The problem with a spell checker is that it can't tell the difference between gulf and golf. They both look right to the spell checker.

Well, It seems to me there is a spell checker for making a new post but not for comments. It's in the post toolbar on the top of the window. Looks like ABC.

My goodness! This should have been a blog of it's own! Dale, I have been using a setting on my blog that emails me (as the administrator) whenever there is a new comment. It doesn't help the rest of you, but it's nice for me! I should go check into it and see if there is some kind of alert for the rest of you. We'll have to work on this....no promises. Tom, no matter WHERE the counter gets it's info, it's still means that it has been looked at that many times. We don't care if YOU look 14 times, or 14 people look. It's still a very popular tool in this family. That excites ME! Take your 14 times away, and you still have a heck of number!!! Can't wait to see you all!

I like the comments like they are now. So what if we look at some things more than once. It helps keep dementia at bay.
