Well, I'm in Utah at a condo less than a block from Temple Square. I'm alone, but I'll explain that later. Sunday morning I had the pleasure of being at the Tabernacle for the weekly broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word". It was awesome, and I was thrilled!! This was the second time I've attended this event, the first being the Christmas broadcast in 1970. Yes, that is a very long story, so ask me sometime. Unfortunately, I did not take a camera because I figured they wouldn't want it there. As I sat listening, I imagined that perhaps some day I could return to listen to Jessica sing in the Tabernacle.
Sunday afternoon I attended the Utah State Fair for the last day of the event. It was not a large fair, but nonetheless it was a lot of fun. Lots of good food!
Robin is in Iowa with her family and will miss this trip west which was nearly a year in the planning. When I left Iowa, her father was in cardiac intensive care but the prognosis was reasonable and we figured I would see him out when I came back through in early October. Since then, it has been up and down but we have not given up hope.
Next week, my plan is to drive down eastern Utah to visit National Parks and Monument Valley. I'm off to New Mexico, where several cousins will be at the International Balloon Fiesta.

Tom, have fun and Robin and her father will be in mythoughts and prayers.
Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the Tabernacle Choir rehearsal. But there was a bonus: a concert to honor the attending WWII veterans from the USS Enterprise, CV6. There was a standing ovation for the vets and for the choir. The concert ended with the Battle Hymn of the Republic, for which the choir won an Emmy many years ago. On Friday night I will attend a violin, piano & voice concert at the Assembly Hall.
Late today, Robin called to report that her Dad is doing much better. He is finally awake after a week and told the nurse to call his son and have him bring the keys to the truck! We are cautiously optimistic. So far his oxygen level is holding OK after they removed the oxygen tube.
