This is a remarkable picture for several reasons. First of all it is a great picture from the campout. Some of you may realize that the older grandchildren of Raleigh and Idessia Walker were boys. Here we are 2 generations later with mostly girls. I guess it all averages out.
This picture represents 6 grandchildren of first cousins which to my memory makes them third cousins. There are also 2 children of first cousins which makes them second cousins. How many families are there where third cousins get together and find they have a lot in common?
Another third cousin was at our house earlier that week but had to go back home before the campout. That was Jessica Mierau (mother is June) who is Mary Margaret's granddaughter and lives in California. She attends San Francisco State and is a beautiful singer. Some of you may remember that she sang at George's funeral.
When I was researching the Moore family I found that Robert Moor came to Ohio from upper NY state on a raft in 1810. He had 10 children who settled in southern Indiana and several grandchildren who served in the Civil War. I often wondered how many of these grandchildren actually knew each other. I bet not many.

What a great group of kids........I love it, that Morgan and Makenzie have a chance to meet cousins that they might never or rarely have a chance to meet and know.
Makenzie, told me what a "blast" the group had when they went back to our hotel to swim. Maybe thatis why God let it rain on our parade, so the young Walker Cousins could be together being kids.
I agree with Doris that these young cousins are doing something that only a few of us enjoyed while growing up. Those kids seem to really connect, and form relationships that will last for many years.
By the way, I've met my second and third cousins at the Moore Reunion in Michigan and yet we never stayed in contact and I don't really know them. In those days, we didn't have a blog, facebook or even e-mail.
And think about Alden. Here are third cousins together, and Alden is a fifth cousin. A fifth cousin sounds really distant until you realize how close these third cousins are. It is remarkable.
I think the real reason this picture is remarkable cause I am in it
Alex you are definately your Father's son
