Campout Update

A few things to help out with the campout. First off, traffic. There is very serious construction on the interchange at exit 32 Hwy 122 and I-75, so expect it to be slow going. The interchange is being completely rebuilt and traffic on Hwy 122 under I-75 has been necked down. Also, there is construction in Dayton on I-75 and south of us toward Cincinnati. Just a heads up for everybody.

In the Department of people coming in from a long distance, Chuck & Shirley Lehr are coming in from Florida and Marleen and Bob are coming in from California. Alden is coming from Santa Fe. Iris went to Virginia by train and will be coming here with Paul and Diane. Joanne is currently undergoing chemo and won't be here. She is doing OK and I'm sure she would appreciate hearing from all of you.

Robin & I are fortunate to have many of you coming in early to get our place ready for the campout. Yes it is a lot of work, but well worth the effort and we do appreciate the help. For those arriving on Thursday, we will serve dinner at 6pm and on through the evening as people arrive late. So, if you can wait that long to eat, show up hungry whatever the time.

This year I have decided that we need to be a bit more organized. If anyone needs to know about where to sleep at the house, check in with Debbie Parrott. It will be crowded in the house and there will be a lot of air beds around so late at night watch your step.

This year I am going to designate a grill master for the grills. He will be sure that the grills are fired up for the meals. In particular, he will get the charcoal ready for the large grill each evening starting it at 5 so it is hot by 5:30 to cook. We have some special treats this year including buffalo hot dogs and Wisconsin Brats.

This year we are announcing meal times. On Friday morning I will fix breakfast between about 8 & 9 AM. I'm going to stick my neck out and offer a special treat. On Saturday morning, Denny Cox will have his griddle fired up and will fix eggs to order. And on Sunday morning we have Doris and her group doing waffles. Bob Drake is providing Ham for breakfast.

I am going to appoint a kitchen coordinator who can help with fridge space, oven time, etc. We will have 3 refrigerators & 2 ovens available. Lunch time will begin at 12:30 each day and supper will be at 6pm each evening. We are trying to pick times when everyone is back from their daily trips and still take care of those who need to eat at specific times.

I hope this planning will help. For us, things started tonight as we hosted the Craig Walker family who are on their way to Maryland to drop off Scott at the Naval Academy. Let the fun begin!!

okay, sounds soooooooooooooo organized. By the way is there going to be homemade icecream this year. I thought I would bring the waffle cone maker.............If not I will make waffle boats.......Or I have an idea we can make waffle boats and put the icecream in the boats. If anyone would like to know what to bring, could I suggest some icecream toppings, chopped nuts, cool whip or some fresh fruit for the waffles and icecream. Even if you have opened toppings in the fridge that would be great also. The girls and I can't wait for this weekend....Doris
