We'll All Miss Dwight

It's so very sad to see another one of our family gone. Dwight and my Dad (Garfield) were very close throughout the years. They even built a car together when theywere young. They were very good to each other and Dwight came to our house many times to help Garfield with one of his schemes! Garfield would concoct ascheme to "build" or "hook up" something. Dwight would be summoned to enlist his "concoction abilities"! The "project" always got finished, and it alwaysworked! They were one of a kind people! (Or should I say two of a kind)?
When Garfield got sick, Dwight helped with things that went wrong in the house that Garfield couldn't fix any more. He even went to Dialysis with Garfield a coupleof times to help console him and help keep him quiet when Garfield was having reactions to the medicines and would physically disconnect from themachines.
It always amazed me how much they looked alike. There is a story my Dad loved to tell and I got such a kick out of it. During the time Dwight worked at Dodge Mfg.,in Mishawaka, Garfield had his Advertising Business. Dodge was one of his biggest accounts, so he was there many times selling or delivering orders. Whenhe walked down the hallways, people would mistake him for Dwight, and stop him to ask for things, or his help. Dad would say, "Sure,,, I'll be there in justa minute!" and never told them he wasn't Dwight! He just laughed and laughed about it! Once, during a lunch break from work, I went past a restaurant and glanced to see my Dad go in. So I stopped and went in too. When I got there,,,,,It was Dwight!!
One time, Dwight and Norma Jean took extra time to help take Jinny (my daughter) home when she couldn't drive after surgery. To her surprise, Norma Jean told herthat she had grown up just down the block and that she had played with the little girl who lived in Jinny's house! Small world.
In my life, Dwight was one of those faces that you always looked for at a family gathering. You always knew he was there, you always knew he would help, you always knew the family look was unmistakable, sort of like looking in the mirror.
I will always sadly, sincerely, and deeply miss seeing both of their faces.....Dwight and Garfield.

Thanks Barb for the wonderful memory. I like reading these kind of Walker stories. We have a lot of similiarities don't we?
