A couple of weeks ago I was looking around a web site called ancestry.com. Ancestry is a place where you can research family history and post your own genealogy for all to see. I came across a family page from a Moore cousin that had a photo of our ancestor Lewis Calvin Moore. L.C. was the son of Gilbert Moor and the father of Mary Idessia (Moore) Walker or Grandma to many of you. Along with Lewis Calvin in this photo is his sister Nancy Ann Moore. I don't have a date for this photo but according to family records he died in 1912.

Dale, I used to have a big picture of them I would guess it was 16 inches by 24 inches. I gave the picture to Tom. I have not seen it since but I assume Tom still has it.Look on Page 179 in the book 'Old Sorrel: The Life of Gilbert Moore' Written by Tom's Dad. There is info there.
That is so cool!
Leanna, look at it this way. If you are one of the 34 first cousins (such as Sharon or John), then Lewis Calvin is your great grandfather. If you are one of their children such as Leanna or Coleen, this is your great-great grandfather. And if you are Leanna's or Coleen's daughter, this is your great- great- great grandfather. It puts a real face in a real world to those names chisled in stone.
And remember, it was Lewis Calvin Moore's father Gilbert who was capture during the Civil War and died at Andersonville Prison.
I'm in Iowa tonight and heading to California on Christmas day. We will visit Dwight in San Diego after New Year's Day.
We haven't changed much, have we?
