Back to Ann Arbor

Susy's trip to Ann Arbor gave us some hope. The neuro-opthalmologist saw that her optic nerve sheath was completly full and any swelling would compress the optic nerve which is what happened. Because she only had about 5% vision in the other eye this is devastating. He said about 43% of patients with this condition recover some site in the eye. He said that just 2 weeks ago the treatments that she was receiving would have been all they could offer. Some of his peers were talking about trying the shot Avastin to combat the inflamation. He had did one two weeks ago with some sucess. This was our first sign of hope in two weeks. He sent us down stairs to a retina Dr. to do the shot. He warned us that the risk of infection was 1 in 5000. Tonite she is seeing fireworks with the eye shut . This can be a sign of infection. We are to be up there at 1PM tomorrow. We covet your prayers. God has been so good but Susy has really been discouraged. Thank you for praying.  Dennis

Dick has been getting Avastin shots in his eye for nearly 2 years but it is for macular degeneration. We are pleased with the success. We hope and pray it will do wonders for you, Susy. Keep us posted.
