Hello to my favorite people!
Robin and I just returned from a fabulous 2 week trip to New Mexico and I have some photo's I thought you might be interested in. I had never been there before, so I had all sorts of surprises. I imagined hot, HOT weather, no rain to speak of, and low humidity. However, the first day or so we were there I had my first taste of the unpredictable nature of mountain weather.
There was eventually enough hail that it looked like snow on the ground. I opened the door to take a picture, but the hail was bouncing in the door so fast that I found myself giggling and cleaning up a mess! What a delightful surprise! It was gone almost as fast as it came.
Robin, Alden, and I had a great week! Alden went to work most of the week while Robin and I played "tourist". We visited Taos, the Indian Market(no Tom, I didn't buy any Indians), Bandolier, Los Alamos, etc. Then we all spent a couple of days doing a few household projects together. Alden treated us like royalty, and Robin and I thoroughly enjoyed it! He even took us to the Santa Fe Opera! We acted like silly siblings most of the time.
When we left Santa Fe, we went to Carlsbad to tour the caves and witness the flight of the bats at dusk. It was fantastic! They exit at a rate of 5000+ per minute. Robin and I watched for 45 minutes until it was too dark to see, but they were still coming. It was a counter clockwise tornado of bats that fly as far as 35 miles for their meal.

Next, we drove to Las Cruces and stayed with Roger and Jo Ellen. We visited the University of New Mexico where Roger works. As some of you know, he spent 25 yrs in the military. He's a fascinating man, as he spurts facts like I spurt drival.
And that's saying something!!!
This is where he works.......
Roger is keeper of the ROTC uniforms, medals and patches, books, and pretty much everything else a Cadet needs. They call him "Sir", but he's VERY well liked.
This is Roger and JoEllen's home. I wonder how many of you knew that JoEllen has a degree in Agriculture, and later worked as a travel agent for the government? She made reservations for the military big-wigs to come hither and fro. Also, have many of you have met Roger's daughter?
Roger, Debi, Robin, Carla, and JoEllen all went to lunch in Mesilla at a very "Walker Friendly" resturaunt. I'll give KUDDO'S to anybody that can name it! It was wonderful! (BTW, somebody should let Fern know that Furr's wants her back!)
All in all, it was a wonderful trip and I'd go back today if I could. To top it all off, we had "Subway Jared" with us on our return flight to Indy.

It was a sub-standard flight! (like that one Alden?)
Love to all,
Debi

What???? You are only saying hi to your FAVORITE people??? And you are not saying hi to me???? But I'm the one who planned the trip! Surely you could make an exception for the trip planner??
The Walker "friendly" restaurant is the La Posta and I have eaten there many times. Furr's is a nice eating facility. I can say I never left there hungry, just feeling very full. Glad you had a good time.
I've been to Mesilla more than once. I think I have eaten there as well. Every year I think about making a trip to NM. Maybe next year. I haven't been back since I left the state in January 1997.
Now I remember, forcing my mom and dad to go with me to La Posta. They were worried the food would be too hot. The waitress assured them there were other options. Of course what I ate was hot!
